Why did we choose orange for Gateway?
When developing Gateway and considering the overall design and theme of the app, I was struck by the question: what colors should we use? This decision was not just an aesthetic choice but an engineering challenge due to the message we wanted to convey.
Colors play a crucial role in dictating user experience, allowing them not just to see value but to feel it. Color schemes are psychological, emotional, and, honestly, engineered. For Gateway, we wanted to ensure that the colors we chose would portray a sense of hope, safety, comfort, and fortitude. After all, applying for a visa is a daunting process—one where all your travel dreams hinge on a single set of approvals.
So, why orange?
Orange is a color that embodies warmth and positivity. It's the color of sunsets, autumn leaves, and the comforting glow of a campfire. It stands at the intersection of red's energy and yellow's happiness, making it a perfect symbol of our mission: to inspire, to guide, and to bring light to what can often be a stressful process.
On a personal level, orange represents the hope and inspiration I felt when embarking on this journey to create Gateway. It’s a seemingly small element, but if done right, it can help make life borderless for so many people. You give us hope, and it’s only fair that we return the favor.
